So, as a Mom we have great moments,good moments and epic fails! Yesterday I had an epic fail! I send my first child off for her first day of grade 1/ full day school! This involves her staying for lunch. So I pack her favorite a jam wrap, beside the wrap I tightly pack her carrots,ranch and raisins all in separate bags just in case her wrap were to leak jam, but it was pretty tightly packed so I was not too worried. When I arrive to pick up Miss M from her first day she informs me that she is hungry, I inquire about her lunch and she informs me that her wrap had leaked and it was sticky everywhere, I felt bad but reassured myself tat at least she had her carrots and ranch and raisins to tide her over! So when we got home I let her have a small snack and even though she was persistent that she was still hungry I informed her she had to wait till dinner time- like a good parent would,right?! Later at 10pm I went through all the paper work that comes home that first day, then I went to empty her lunch pail and nearly burst into tears, her wrap had leaked ALL OVER her carrots,ranch and raisins, so she had not eaten any of it. All she had other than a bowl of cereal around 7am was a few crackers and a fruit leather- I had epically failed for first day of school lunch and felt like I had failed my daughter :( I thought why had she not asked the teacher to call me, I would have brought her a new lunch, but maybe she didn't know that I would do that for her!? So this morning her Dad taught her that if that ever happens again to call me, that is why Mom is at home, he explained so if something goes wrong she can be there for you, he proceeded to tell her how badly I had felt over my epic fail the day before. So today off she went with a ziplock bag of wipes in her lunch in case of any unexpected messes and 3 muffins for lunch, which on the way home she explained there was way to much in her lunch today- that felt good to hear. So she informed me for future 1 muffin, carrots and ranch and an applesauce are more than enough :) Anyways, just thought I would share my failure, because as the movie Meet the Robinsons (my children's current fav.) says, failures are how we learn, if we succeed there is no more room to learn :) that's what I'm running with, I can only get better! :)

I hear ya though. Sucks to try and then feel like you fail.
You're a great mom - my kids have NEVER had muffins in their lunch.
Aww, it makes for a great story though! Don't sweat it. Fortunately, there are plenty more YEARS of lunches ahead and she won't even remember this one, I'm sure.
My heart ached for you as a Mom--we try so hard to make everything right & good for our children.
You did not fail!!
You are such a thoughtful Mom and together with your dear husband are teaching your daughter life lessons.
Someday as a Mom herself she will truly understand :)
